CINNABAR MOTH

As we were inspecting our courgette and potato plants yesterday morning (as in the changed time and date of this post), one of these unmistakeable day-flying moths flew through the garden.

The Cinnabar moth is normally flying a few weeks later than now, but everything seems to be early this year. It feeds on Ragwort, and Ragwort only. Plant some Ragwort in your garden, and it may take some time, but you'll probably attract these beautiful moths eventually, and their bold black and yellow striped caterpillars...
