We didn't manage to buy any more live food for our Tits yesterday, as the bloke delivering them to "Jurassic Pets" broke down.
Shame - as we now have two cocky cockney "Sparras" taking the Mealworms from our Feeder.
I was originally a bit peeved by this, but the House Sparrows need food also - the British population of these birds has crashed over the last 20 years or so. I'm not sure if the House Sparrows are nesting nearby - probably, and I think House Sparrows have more than one brood of young in a year often.
We also have 2 Dunnocks, (Hedge Sparrows, or Hedge Accentors) visiting the garden. Mainly ground-feeders, I don't think they'll take the caterpillars and larvae from the sieve (3' up the fence).
We are DEFINITELY starting to hear the young Blue Tits now, at the end of their first week out of their shells. I expect them to get louder and louder, not to mention more demanding!
Arthur looks more and more bedraggled with this recent rain, but at least he has a plump belly - his mate still looks very perky with her 'male crest'...
We intend to buy more caterpillars today now, to make sure the birds don't go hungry!
