Anna and I noticed this grasshopper in the front garden, before we set off for our woodland walk yesterday, (as in the changed time and date of this post).
Grasshoppers are buggers to identify, but I think this is a MALE Common Green Grasshopper. Our most common species of Grasshopper - only the female is grass-green coloured on the dorsal side - the males can be any colour or combination of - brown, grey, green, whatever. Nice to see though, and I hope they start 'chirruping' soon - one of my most favourite sounds of the year.
