Anna found this little beetle in my meadow whilst I was at work last night. Then she found it again this morning.
I'll dee some research on the interweb and try and formally identify it (and then change the title of this post, and write a bit about it), but until then...
NB. 05/06/07 <---spooky eh? Those kind chaps and chapesses at the WILD ABOUT BRITAIN INSECT FORUM have (at last!) managed to identify this wee beastie.
Its a CHRYSOLEMID LEAF BEETLE, name of GASTROPHYSA POLYGONI. A Leaf Beetle that can be locally common, and dwells on weeds , often Bindweed (Polygonum - from where it gains its name), and yes, our example was a pregnant female.
