Another bit of warning for the next annual meteor shower visible from the UK (and whole northern hemisphere).
Between the dates of October 16th and 27th, the earth (as twice a year it does, in May and October) passes through the trail of dust and ice particles the tail of Halleys Comet has left behind.
This produces the annual meteor shower known as the Orionids. The radiant (point of origin of these meteors) lies in the constellation Orion, and we should see up to 10 shooting stars per hour - peaking on the night of the 22nd October, when if we are very fortunate with the weather conditions, we would anticipate seeing up to 50 per hour.
