The last post from this trip to Shropshire!
You may have noticed a few wasps around in the last week or so.
I thought this was very early for wasps, but apparently not.
The females are the wasps you'll see at the moment - the more numerous males (longer antennae) only appear in late summer, when the queens are in the nest.
Bumblebees have also been making use of this unseasonably warm weather - searching for suitable nest spots.
We saw a HUGE Red-Tailed Bumble Bee on Anna's parents drive just before we left for our trip back to Reading.
These insects are pretty well unmistakeable (though I won't bore you with the two common different species).
Just look out for a large black Bumble Bee with an orange bottom!
