This common garden Hoverfly, the Marmalade Hoverfly often arrives in Britain from the continent during warmer weather - arriving in great swarms.
Found him taking a rest on our Artichoke leaves...
I think this is one of the best insect photos I've taken yet - better than my field-guide!
